Senator Joe Pittman has offered a statement on the distribution of $775 million in Motor License Funds over the next two years for road projects throughout the state.
PennDOT says $500 million will be invested in projects this year and another $275 will be invested next fiscal year. The money will go towards Rapid Deployment Projects that will allow better projects to happen quicker without interfering with future tasks. The investment will also allow PennDOT maintenance crews to focus on projects on other roadways.
Indiana County will see two such projects. One is for a portion of Route 22 in the Penn View area for milling and paving with drainage work from Snyder Lane in Burrell Township to just east of Kettle Hollow Road in West Wheatfield Township. The other is a resurfacing project for Route 286 in Saltsburg Borough that will include guiderail installation and drainage work.
Senate Republican Leader Joe Pittman said that he and his fellow members fought to make sure that the money would be directed to “three-and-four digit road projects” as part of the 2026-27 budget and said that “A robust transportation infrastructure is vital for communities in every corner of the Commonwealth,” and the Senate will continue to stand up for fiscal responsibility and transparency.
