The Homer-Center School Board will meet tonight, and on the agenda are motions concerning revised school calendars for this year.
The start of the school year was delayed for Homer-Center students due to aspergillus spores found in the elementary building. While the high school was not affected, the start of school was initially delayed for them to keep them in line with elementary students being out. High school students went back on September 1st, three days after the original start of school, but classes continued to be delayed for elementary students as remediation efforts continued. Elementary students started classes on September 10th. While the district had plans in place to make up the lost days for the high school, its still unknown how the elementary class days will be made up. That will be determined when the revised school calendar is approved tonight.
The board will also vote on the evaluation of Superintendent Ralph Cecere and have a second reading and final passage on 11 policies ranging from superintendent employment to discrimination and harassment affecting students and staff.
The meeting starts at 7:30 tonight in the district boardroom.
