While the PA Department of Health has not recognized the recent measles-related death in Jefferson County, they did say the number of cases has increased across the state.
The latest statistics from the department show 99 new cases over the last seven days, bringing the total to 693 total cases in Pennsylvania, with 681 of them reported since April when an outbreak of the disease started in Lancaster County. Lancaster county has 296 cases reported for the year.
No new cases were reported in Indiana over the past few days, with that number holding steady at 11. Jefferson County has 28 cases, Clearfield has 19, while Armstrong, Cambria and Westmoreland counties have one case apiece.
Since the start of the year, 133 people have been hospitalized since the start of the year.
