Businesses and establishments that have skill games machines are being reminded that the enforcement deadline is coming up next month.
State police say that on October 14th, all “skill game” machines outside of those in licensed casinos and qualified truck stops will be seized and those operating or maintaining those machines are subject to criminal prosecution. On June 15th, the state Supreme Court ruled all “skill game” devices often found in taverns, restaurants, social clubs, gas stations, grocery stores and other businesses are “slot machines” as defined by the state’s Gaming Act and are classified as gambling machines. State Troopers strongly recommend that businesses currently hosting such machines discuss their removal with any distributors or vendors who may own the machines and associated equipment, including ticket redemption terminals.
If a distributor or vendor is unwilling to remove machines, the establishment is encouraged to proactively reach out to PSP to assist in their removal to ensure compliance with applicable law.
