Florence (Flo) Mary Dongilla, 96, of Indiana, died Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at
Indiana Regional Medical Center with family at her side. Born on April 2, 1930 in
Barnesboro, she was the daughter of the late Michael Zieminski and Julia (Siebab)
Zieminski.
Flo will be remembered as a loving and caring woman whose life was devoted to her
family, her faith, and caring for others. Her faith was an important part of her life. Flo
was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish for decades, where she often
sang in the choir and served as a cantor.
Flo dedicated many years to a rewarding career in nursing. She trained with the
Cleveland Clinic and worked as a Registered Nurse for IUP, building a meaningful
career centered around helping and caring for others. Florence previously served on the
Board of Directors for VNA Hospice. After her nursing career, Florence worked for many
years with friends and family at Roseann's Everyday Gourmet and Paisano’s Italian
Restaurant.
Those who knew Flo will also remember the simple things that made her special – her
love for her family, her generous heart, and the joy she found in making pierogies for
those she loved at Christmas time.
She is survived by her children: Thomas Dongilla Jr. of Pittsburgh; David (Kristine)
Dongilla of Greensburg; and Christopher (Jonelle) Dongilla of Indiana; and her
grandchildren, who fondly called Flo; Bobo: Elizabeth, Melissa, Olivia, Dominic, and
Luca; and five great-Grandchildren. Flo will be missed by her brother: Carl Zieminski;
and her sisters: Betty Outland and Janet Sears.
In addition to her parents, Flo was preceded in death by her siblings: Bernie Zieminski,
Jeanne Dagna, Paula Langrock, Jack Zieminski, and Helen Porowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 11:00
a.m. at St. Thomas More University Parish, at 1200 Oakland Avenue, Indiana PA,
15701, with Fr. Jonathan Ulrich, officiating. Friends will be received immediately
following mass at the Saint Thomas More Parish social hall until 2PM. Interment will
follow in St. Stanislas Cemetery, Northern Cambria.
