The Indiana girls lost to Armstrong by 49 strokes at the Kittanning Country Club. Lyla Pangonis and Angelina Donatelli each shot a 58 to lead Indiana. Ava McCombie shot 62 and Gracie Reed, making her first varsity start, shot 64. Armstrong’s Clara Toy was medalist with a 40.
CROSS COUNTRY
Marion Center coach Chris Peters captured his 300th career win yesterday as the Stingers beat the Homer-Center and Penns Manor boys and girls runners to the line in a Heritage Conference meet.
The order of finish was the same for both the boys and girls, with Marion Center first, Homer-Center second, and Penns Manor third.
The Stingers had the top six finishers in the girls race, led by Macie Miller, Nora Pollock, and Brooklyn Slovinsky. Julia Fabin led the Homer-Center runners. Aubrey Smicklo was the top runner for Penns Manor.
For the boys, Marion Center had five of the top six runners, led by Landon Spence. Penns Manor’s Trevor Cameron was second and MC’s Silas Pollock was third. Top runner for Homer-Center was Blake Lucas.
Under Chris Peters, Marion Center has won 29 Heritage Conference team championships, six District 6 team titles, one state championship, and four Top 5 team finishes in 21 years.
Purchase Line, West Shamokin, and River Valley got together for a tri-meet at PL. For the girls, Purchase Line took first, West Shamokin second, and River Valley third. The top three finishers were Paige McCarthy for West Shamokin and Purchase Line’s Payton Wannett and Bristol Warren. River Valley’s top runner was Emily Kepple.
The boys race was won by Purchase Line, with West Shamokin second and River Valley third. The top three runners were River Valley’s Skyler Lewber and Omari Miller and Purchase Line’s Aiden Tavel. West Shamokin’s best was Kohen Stewart.
