A federal investigation is underway into the deadly midair collision at Carlisle Airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are leading the investigation into the crash Wednesday evening when a small plane veered off course and hit a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter with two troopers onboard. The pilot of the plane was killed, while the troopers are recovering from their injuries. The pilot was identified yesterday as 57-year-old Dr. Paul Sokoloski, an emergency medicine physician.
