Thursday night, the Homer-Center School Board heard an update on the use of Chromebooks at the elementary grade levels.
Elementary principal Heather Genchur and Superintendent Ralph Cecere talked about how much the computers are used at the elementary levels, and while they are used as tools, there are plenty of safeguards in place to make sure that improper material doesn’t get through. Chromebooks at the elementary level stay at the school. Cecere said it’s important that the right balance is in place for their use. To that end, Chromebooks are not allowed to be used during recess.
During the meeting, the board approved having the Department of Environmental Protection host a public meeting and hearing on October 5th.
