Preliminary hearings are scheduled today for Indiana County’s District Courts, including a hearing for a Trafford man who is charged with taking money for a home improvement project but not finishing the job.
Blairsville Borough Police filed charges against 51-year-old Nickie Perenyi for an investigation that started on June 15th of this year. Police said Perenyi was paid $2500 by a 65-year-old resident of Blairsville for a roof replacement project in December of 2025 and never started the work. The victim made several attempts to contact Perenyi and get her money back, but he failed to return it. He was found later in the day by police in Trafford and taken to Indiana County Jail. Perenyi is facing charges of failure to perform home improvement work paid in advance, theft by deception and receiving stolen property.
The hearing is scheduled for later today in front of District Judge Robert Bell Sr.
