Justin Meis gave up the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the ninth inning as Altoona was walked off by Binghampton, 4-3. Jefferson Rojas drove in three runs for the Rumble Ponies, including the tying run on a double in the ninth, then Chris Suero hit the game-winning sacrifice fly.
Easton Carmichael hit a two-run homer for the Curve. Carmichael, Titus Dumitru, and Jesus Castillo all had two hits.
Matt Ager takes the ball for Altoona tonight in the second game of the series.
Pitcher Sean Sullivan has returned to the Curve after missing most of the season recovering from an elbow injury. Sullivan has made only four appearances, tossing five-and-a-third innings, for Bradenton. The Pirates activated him yesterday and assigned him to Altoona.
Another Curve veteran, right-hander Po-Yu Chen, has begun his minor league rehab assignment with Bradenton. He last pitched for the Curve on May 6th and after a setback during rehab in June, has been on the 60-day injured list since then.
