Roxie L. Miles, 78 of Punxsutawney, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Penn Highlands, DuBois Hospital.
She was born November 10, 1947 to Robert and Bettie (Bish) Miles, in Distant, Armstrong County.
Roxie was a member of the Punxsutawney Church of God. She was a graduate of Red Bank Valley High School and Anderson College. Roxie was a second-grade elementary school teacher at Bell Township and Jenks Hill Schools. She served as head teacher at Jenks Hill and was the assistant coach of the Punxsutawney High School Cheerleading team.
She was a member of various women’s professional and community groups including American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and was a member of both the Pennsylvania State Educators and School Retirees Associations. She also previously served on the board of Clearfield-Jefferson mental health.
Roxie enjoyed playing cards, especially with her long-time friend and bridge partner Bob Barone. She also enjoyed crafting, and attending plays, musicals, concerts and social events. Roxie enjoyed traveling, where she visited over 20 different countries and spent her winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and more recently in Mesa, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Robert Miles Jr. She is survived by a niece Amy (Miles) Wilson and her husband Kennedy, and a sister-in-law Bonnie Miles, all of Kansas City, Missouri.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 6-8 PM, and also on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery, Distant, Armstrong County.
