Earlier this week, the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency announced the distribution of state money to schools for safety.
The commission’s School Safety and Security Committee approved funding frameworks for the School Safety and Mental Health grants that are being made available for public schools. The objective of the grants are to offer an opportunity for schools to use funding to address school security and behavioral health support needs. Over $178 million is being made available for this program.
Indiana County Schools and the ARIN intermediate unit will receive close to $1 million in grant money. The breakdown is as follows.
• ARIN IU 28 – $70,000
• Homer-Center School District – $134,044
• Indiana Area School District – $219,549
• Indiana County Technology Center – $70,000
• Penns Manor School District – $129,747
• River Valley School District – $160,518
• United School District – $136,589
