Abraham A. Kennedy, 91, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at his home.
He was born July 17, 1935, in Ramsaytown, PA, a son of the late Jennie L. (Shaffer) and Alvin V. Kennedy.
On March 7, 1956, he married Mae Jean Kennedy, who preceded him in death on December 6, 2021.
Abraham was a graduate of Brookville High School. He enjoyed singing, attending hymn sings throughout the area, picking berries, and gardening. He sang with the NBC Chorus for almost fifty years.
He was co-owner of Kennedy Coal Company for nearly seventy years.
Abraham is survived by three sons, James Kennedy and wife Deborah of Harmony, PA, Stephen Kennedy and wife Wendy J. of Granger, IN, and Kevin Kennedy and wife Wendy of Winston-Salem, NC; six grandchildren, Pamela Shuler and husband Sidney, Lisa Pentland and husband Keith, Kathleen Conway and husband Kyle, Adam Kennedy and wife Erin, Nicholas Kennedy and wife D’Aeja, Stephanie Powers and husband William, and Andrew and Phillip McGee; eight great grandchildren, Sylvia and Lydia Pentland, Eleanor and Beatrice Shuler, Kaden Conway, and Elliot and Avery Kennedy, and David Powers.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Matthew Kennedy, and siblings Ronald Kennedy, Alvin Kennedy, and Virginia Kozak.
Friends will be received from 12 to 1 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., immediately following visitation, with Pastor Robyn Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
