The Altoona Curve suffered a heart-breaking loss to the Akron Rubberducks last night 4-3.
The Curve were down 4-0 when Javier Rivas hit a homer in the 7th and in the 8th, Callan Moss scored on a wild pitch and Easton Carmichael scored on a balk. In the 9th, Altoona had the game-tying and the winning run in scoring position when Akron hunkered down and stopped the Curve rally. Oneil Cruz, who is with the team on a rehab assignment, was 2-5 with a pair of singles. All of Akron’s offense came off three homers surrendered by Curve starter Matt Ager.
The two teams play again tonight. Altoona will send Nick Dombkowski to the hill while the RubberDucks will start Braylon Doughty.
