At its meeting Thursday night, the River Valley school board approved the hiring of Joe Capitosti as the new assistant boys’ basketball coach. He takes over for Steve Shannon, who was hired as the girls’ head basketball coach earlier this year.
Capitosti had an illustrious playing career at Homer-Center, posting more than 1,200 points and helping the Wildcats clinch two Heritage Conference championships. He was also a main contributor for the Wildcats’ District 6 playoff runs between 2010 and 2014, even helping Homer-Center to a 74-66 win over Juniata Valley in the 2014 playoffs.
Capitosti recently served as an assistant for the Homer-Center girls’ basketball team.
