A Montgomery County state lawmaker has introduced a memo for a proposed bill to require data centers to report their annual electricity and water usage and the benefits they provide to the communities in which they are located.
State Representative Joe Webster, a Democrat, says in the memo, “Pennsylvania residents deserve to know exactly what resources are being used by the data centers.” He says the accountability measures would be backed by “significant sanctions if they do not comply.”
In memo form only for now, the bill has not yet been formally introduced.
