The Pittsburgh Pirates have released veteran designated hitter Marcell Ozuna.
The 35-year-old signed a 12-million-dollar contract with the Bucs for 2026, but struggled offensively, hitting just .203 with eight home runs and 29 RBIs in 70 games.
Ozuna was a three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger winner during his career.
His release comes as the Pirates call up outfielder Ronny Simon from Triple-A Indianapolis. Simon is hitting .330 with seven home runs and 63 RBIs for the Indians this season.
