Tuesday night, Indiana Borough Council approved a PennVEST requisition as part of ongoing infrastructure financing.
PennVEST, or the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, provides low-interest financing and grants to municipalities for projects pertaining to environmental infrastructure.
The requisition was for $79,384.93, and will be used for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant in Center Township.
Currently, the systems that take the wastewater into the plant break down solid material using large grinder-like machines. Council member Kaycee Newell says that these systems are old and replacing them would save money in the future.
There were also two pay applications and one change order approved in connection with the project, totaling $90,419.88.
Council also approved some changes to the zoning ordinance update plan, though final approval of the entire plan is still in the works.
