Altoona had a season-high seventeen hits, including an inside-the-park home run by Will Taylor, but the Curve gave up two runs in the top of the ninth inning and lost to Chesapeake, 9-8.
Titus Dumitru had three hits and Taylor, Lonnie White Jr., Callan Moss, Javier Rivas, and Matt King all had two hits for the Curve. White hit a go-ahead triple in the bottom of the eighth, but the Curve surrendered a tying RBI groundout in the ninth, followed by a sacrifice fly for Chesapeake’s winning run.
Rivas grounded into a double play to end the game in the bottom of the ninth with runners on first and second. Rivas also homered in the game.
Connor Oliver starts for the Curve tonight in the series finale.
