A retired Pennsylvania State Police trooper accused of causing a deadly DUI crash in Clearfield County has been released after posting $1 million bail.
According to WJAC news, Thomas Reed posted bond Thursday, a day after his arraignment on nearly two dozen charges stemming from the July 23 crash on Route 879 in Pike Township. Investigators allege Reed, who admitted drinking at a fishing tournament before the crash, crossed the center line and struck a minivan, killing its driver. A motorcyclist also died after being unable to avoid the collision, and a passenger in the van suffered serious injuries.
Reed’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26.
