PennDOT has announced that the application period for grants under the Rail Transportation Assistance Program and the Rail Freight Assistance Program will open Monday.
The application period for both grants will start on Monday, August 3rd and run through next month. The grants are underwritten through the Multimodal fund through Act 89. PennDOT says the state has 65 operating railroads and the agency is committed to working with private rail operators and businesses to build new rail lines and assist in maintaining and improving existing ones.
Interested parties can log on to the PennDOT application website. Applications are due by 4:00 PM August 28th.
