Steelers players used to arrive at St. Vincent College in limousines, fire trucks, and Rolls Royces…and even an Uber. Today, it will be much more low-key, and the media won’t even be able to watch.
Players and coaches will show up in Latrobe today for the start of training camp, and the team will make some of them available in the media room, but the tradition of the spectacular arrival pretty much ended with Covid-19, and new coach Mike McCarthy will be all business when he welcomes the team in today.
The first practice is tomorrow at 11:20 AM.

The Steelers’ biggest rival, the Baltimore Ravens, have placed six defensive players on the physically unable to perform list, including three starters on the defensive line. One of them is former All-Pro Nnamdi Madubuike, who like the Steelers’ Broderick Jones, is coming back from spinal fusion surgery after being hurt in Week Two last season. Defensive tackles Travis Jones and John Jenkins, edge rusher Adisa Isaac, inside linebacker Teddye Buchanon, and cornerback Bilhal Kone are also on the sidelines to start training camp.
The Steelers are Ravens don’t play each other until Week 15, on December 20th, and then again in Week 18, on January 10th.
