Altoona took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 9th inning last night, but a throwing error allowed the RubberDucks to tie the game and a single brought home the winning run in a 4-3 Akron win. It was the second walk-off win for Akron this week.
With a runner on second after a walk and a sacrifice bunt, Curve pitcher Mike Walsh threw wildly to third base on another bunt, allowing the game-tying run to score. Akron’s Nolan Schubart then single to deep right field, driving in the winning run.
The Curve managed just five hits in the loss, two of them singles by Keiner Delgado.
Altoona leads the series 3-2, and attempts to win it this afternoon with Kyle Robinson getting the start.
