Altoona and Akron played a scoreless tie into the ninth inning last night before the Curve scraped out the game’s only run in a 1-0 win. And it was Lonnie White, Jr. who came through again, cracking a two-out single into center field and driving in Murf Gray with the winning run. Gray had doubled down the left field line to set up the run.
Three Curve pitchers threw three shutout innings each in a bullpen game. Dominic Pipkin gave up a hit and two walks, with four strikeouts. Cristhian Tortosa gave up just a walk and struck out four in his three innings, and Brandon Neeck gave up two hits and a walk, striking out three and inducing double-play groundouts in both the eighth and ninth innings.
White followed up his four-hit Wednesday night with two more hits last night.
Right-hander Peyton Stumbo takes the mound for the Curve tonight.
