This morning, the Indiana County Commissioners approved policies and procedures concerning a state budget impasse.
This year’s budget impasse was only two weeks long, but the policy will address a lengthy budget impasse like last year’s that lasted over four months. County Commissioners Chairman Mike Ketih said that they did not have such a policy in place in 2025, and while the county did not have to borrow any money to cover things during the impasse, this policy will help if they have to.
Commissioners also approved an asbestos removal contract with R.L. Abatement from Hopewell for the Carriage House and Essex House project in Indiana Borough at a cost of $176,820. This marks the second round of asbestos removal for the site as additional asbestos was found after the initial removal in 2023-24. A change order was also approved for the project to remove and dispose of waste materials related to the project for an additional $36,000.
