A bus company out of Marion Center is one of 26 companies to receive grant money from PennDOT to help train school bus drivers.
Over $1.1 million in grant funding will be divided among the companies to cover the costs to train over 430 new school bus drivers, including CDL training, trainee wages, and testing and permit fees. It can also be used for promotion and increasing school bus safety, education, and training.
The money comes through the PennDOT School Bus Safety Grant program, which is funded through a portion of fines collected through the state’s School Bus Stopping Law.
Woodridge Transit, LLC, which serves the Marion Center School District, will receive $50,000 from the grant.
