Powerball is expanding beyond the United States, with players in the United Kingdom now able to compete for the same jackpot prize as American players.
Tonight’s drawing is expected to offer an estimated jackpot of $567 million. The expansion marks the first time a country outside the U.S. is contributing to the Powerball jackpot. While U.S. players typically have a cash option and winnings are subject to taxes, U.K. winners will follow different rules, including annuity-style payments.
Despite those differences, players on both sides of the Atlantic are chasing the same life-changing prize.
