PIRATES ACQUIRE OUTFIELDER, ANNOUNCE 2027 SEASON SCHEDULE

The Pirates did make a move yesterday, as they acquired top outfield prospect Robert Hassell III from the Washington Nationals in exchange for cash considerations or a player to be named later.  Hassell was the 8^th overall pick in the 2020 Draft by the San Diego Padres before he was traded to the Nationals.  In 70 big league games last season, his batting average was .223.

The Pirates are also announced their 2027 schedule yesterday.  The first game of the season will be March 25^th, as the Pirates will start a three-game series at home against the Athletics.  This marks the first time that the Pirates will host a game on opening day since April 3^rd of 2016, and will also be the earliest the Pirates will start a season.  The first road trip will see the Bucs go to Cincinatti to take on the Reds March 29-31^st.  The longest homestand of the season will come June 23 to July 1, when the Pirates host the Diamondbacks, Braves and Mets over 10 straight games.  The longest road trip will be June 11^th to the 20^th with games against the LA Dodgers, the Angels, and San Diego.  The 2027 All-Star game will be held July 13^th.
