The Pennsylvania Senate last week approved a bill aimed at getting new medical treatments and devices to patients more quickly.
Senate Bill 1206 would allow pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers to begin Pennsylvania’s licensing process before completing federal approval, reducing delays once that approval is granted. Supporters say the change would speed access to life-saving innovations while maintaining existing safety standards.
The bill now heads to the Pennsylvania House for consideration.
