Homer City Post 493 knocked off Bushy Run, 3-0 last night to open their District 31 Senior Legion semifinal series. The Bearcats scored single runs in the first, fourth, and fifth innings as six hitters collected a hit apiece.
Hunter Kunkle and Connor James each doubled and drove in a run. Braden Bonatch threw five-and-a-third innings of shutout ball, scattering three hits and six walks and striking out three for the win. Brayden Rado tossed the final inning-and-two-thirds for the save, walking one and striking out one and giving up two hits.
Game Two of the series is tonight at 6 at First Commonwealth Bank Field.
In the other semifinal, Latrobe beat Lower Burrell, 3-2.
