The Board of Governors of the State System of Higher Education will meet today and tomorrow and are expected to approve their preliminary budget.
The system projects a $15.5 million deficit on a $2.1 billion budget, largely due to rising personnel and healthcare costs and a slight decline in enrollment. Tuition is expected to remain flat for now, though final decisions on tuition rates and state funding will be made during this week’s board meeting, with final budget approval scheduled for October.
The budget proposal also includes funding for Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s new College of Osteopathic Medicine, which is expected to welcome its first class in the fall of 2027.
