The America 250 PA Parade will kick off a full weekend of celebrations of our country’s semiquincentennial.
The parade will step off around 6:30, but Indiana Borough Police are asking people to arrive early for the event, and to remain well-hydrated as the temperatures will still be at their peak during the last of the heat wave. Over 70 units will take part in the parade, including a special marching band unit, according to America 250 PA Indiana County Chairperson Laura Harrington with the Tourist Bureau.
Several parking options are being offered. Police mentioned that there will be a special event rate at the Indiana Borough Parking Garage on a first-come, first-served basis. Handicapped parking is also being offered in the 900 block of Philadelphia Street between Clymer Avenue and 10th Street.
There will also be a shuttle bus available from 4 PM to 9:30 PM from KCAC auxiliary parking lot along Wayne Avenue. The bus will run from the KCAC lot to the intersection of South 7th and Gompers Avenue every 20 minutes.
