The Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office says it is ending its agreement to assist ICE agents.
The department entered into an agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement last year through which deputies would serve as backup for ICE agents operating in the county.
Sheriff James Albert says his department remains willing to work with federal, state and local law enforcement partners including ICE but that the official agreement is terminated.
