A West Newton man is facing time behind bars for stealing private photos from Snapchat accounts.
A judge has sentenced 30-year-old Michael Yackovich to four years in prison following his guilty to pleas to aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit online wire fraud. Investigators say Yackovich and six other people used scam techniques to hack into Snapchat accounts before saving and sharing intimate photos belonging to hundreds of victims. He is the first defendant to be convicted and sentenced.
Some of the victims have criticized the justice process in this case as Yachovich and the other defendants are not charged with any sex crimes because none of them apply to this situation.
