In the minors, Connor Wietgrefe had his third scoreless outing to help the Altoona Curve beat the Akron RubberDucks 3-2 last night. Jack Brannigan accounted for all three runs for Altoona, with a two-RBI single in the first inning and a solo homer in the 9th inning. The two teams play again tonight. Altoona’s starter has yet to be announced while Josh Hartle will start for Akron.
The Pirates did shuffle things around for the Curve before the start of last night’s game. Outfielder Lonnie White, Jr. was activated from the seven-day injured list while Infielder Jesus Castillo was transferred to Indianapolis.
