IUP softball player Delaney Patella has been named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American, concluding her college career with excellence both on the field and in the classroom. Patella maintained a 3.8 grade-point average, while setting the all-time IUP career home run record, with 35. She ends her IUP tenure ranked in the top five in batting average, runs scored, doubles, home runs, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage, walks, and games played.
Seven IUP athletes also earned CSC Academic All-District honors. Senior golfer Guillermo Salazar, women’s field hockey players Celeste Pagliaroli, Sydney Schmouder, and Mia Gerick, and lacrosse players Alexi Crosby, Rachel Knight, and Devon Nee all were recognized for their cumulative GPAs of 3.50 or better while participating in at least 70 percent of their team’s games.
Schools are limited to six nominees from each gender.
