Some areas of Indiana County are still feeling the effects of strong thunderstorms that rolled through the area yesterday.
Between 3:03 and 7:30 PM on Thursday, there were 16 calls for power lines down reported by Indiana County 911. Areas affected included Green, Burrell, Conemaugh, Montgomery, Washington, East Wheatfield, North Mahoning, South Mahoning, Buffington and Rayne Townships along with Shelocta Borough.
As of this morning, 584 Penelec customers and eight REA energy cooperative members are without power. For Penelec, the bulk of the outages are in the Blairsville Borough area, with 188. Burrell Township has reported 95 outages and Cherryhill Township has 31 residents without power. The rest of the outages are scattered across Armstong, Banks, Conemaugh, East Wheatfield, Glen Campbell, Green, Montgomery, North Mahoning, South Mahoning, West Mahoning, White and Young Townships, along with Saltsburg, Homer City and Indiana Boroughs. No word when Penelec customers will see power restored.
The eight REA members without power in Indiana County are in Green Township. REA Energy expects power restoration to happen at 9:00 this morning.
