The Pirates will try to snap their four-game losing streak tonight in Game Two of the series, but it won’t be easy against the Dodgers’ best pitcher…who is also their best hitter. The Bucs’ Jared Jones (1-0, 4.82 ERA) faces off with the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani (6-2, 0.74 ERA). Airtime is 6:15 with first pitch at 6:40 on WCCS.
INJURED BUCCOS
Oneil Cruz remained out of the lineup last night after injuring his hand on a slide on Saturday. He’s considered day-to-day and is getting treatment from the team’s medical staff.
Konnor Griffin is eligible to return from the injured list today, but he won’t. Griffin began throwing plyometric balls on Sunday and if the doctors clear him, he will begin a throwing program from ninety feet today. The team slowed down Griffin’s return from his forearm injury after an examination last week by renowned surgeon Dr. Keith Meister. Director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk says there is no ligament damage and surgery is not being considered.
