IUP has announced a new dean for the college of Arts, Humanities, Media and Public Affairs.
After a national search, the university named Dr. Emily Ruth Rutter as the new dean. She comes from Bloomfield College of Montclair State University, where she is the associate dean for Academic Affairs and a professor of English. Before that, she served as associate dean of the Honors College, professor of English, and assistant director of African American Studies at Ball State University. IUP Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Laura Luetkehans said in a statement that Rutter is a well-respected scholar and has a lot of experience in the classroom and in academic administration.
Rutter said she was thrilled to join IUP and said that the school she will oversee “resonates profoundly with my academic background and passions.”
She will take over for Dr. Curt Scheib, who is retiring from the position today. Rutter officially starts work on June 29th.
