Carol A. Jeffries (Moody), 79, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at her home on June 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on January 25, 1947, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Carol was the daughter of the late David Moody and Kathryn (Stoker) Moody.
On February 3, 1968, she married the love of her life, Robert J. Jeffries. Together they shared more than 58 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, friendship, and love.
A graduate of Marion Center High School, Class of 1964, Carol devoted her life to caring for her family as a homemaker. She created a welcoming home where family gatherings were treasured, traditions were celebrated, and everyone knew they were loved.
Carol was well known for her baking and candy-making talents. Her homemade cakes and chocolate candies were favorites among family and friends and became a cherished part of many holidays and special occasions. She also enjoyed crocheting, spending time with friends and family at reunions, and meeting with friends at the Eagles in Indiana. Above all else, Carol’s greatest joy came from her family. She loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.
Carol was strong-willed, fiercely independent, and loved her family with her whole heart. She was a source of strength, encouragement, and unwavering support to those who knew and loved her. Whether offering advice, celebrating life’s accomplishments, or simply being present during difficult times, she could always be counted on. Her family knew they were deeply loved, and she took immense pride in the lives, accomplishments, and happiness of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1468 in Indiana.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Robert J. Jeffries; her children, Scott A. Jeffries and wife Suzanne of Indiana, Robin Lyons and husband Robert of Indiana, and Kimberly Gutierrez and husband Onys of Indiana. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Cory Jeffries and wife Victoria, Evan Jeffries and partner Mallory Fedder, Fallon Wood Lyons and husband Chad, Tyler Lyons, Jordan Yurko, and Aidan Yurko. She was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Jacob Jeffries, Harper Jeffries, Bentley Wood, and Teagan Wood.
Also surviving are her brother, David E. Moody and wife Karin of Creekside; her brother-in-law, Raymond Smeltzer; brother- in-law: Donald (Judith) Jeffries; her nephews Steven Smeltzer and wife Kelly of Homer City, Kenneth Smeltzer and wife Laura of Lansdale, David Moody of Indiana, and Michael Moody and wife Jennifer of Ebensburg, and Patrick Jeffries and Michael Jeffries; as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia K. Smeltzer (Moody), and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Carol will be remembered for her strength, determination, and unwavering love for her family. She was a woman who faced life’s challenges with resilience and grace, always putting the needs of those she loved before her own. Her home was a place of comfort, her advice was sincere, and her love was constant. Though her family is heartbroken by her loss, they find comfort in the memories she created, the values she instilled, and the countless ways she enriched their lives. Her legacy of love, devotion, and strength will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
