The University of Pittsburgh yesterday announced the eight new members of the Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame, who will be inducted September 11th at the Petersen Events Center.
The new Hall members are football players Antonio Bryant and Randy Holloway, men’s basketball’s Curtis Aiken and women’s basketball player Marcedes Walker, swimming & diving’s Dominic Giodano and Jan Ujevich Bellhy, volleyball player Meagan Dooley, and Bryant J. Salter, who excelled at both track & field and football.
They will be honored before the Pitt football game against Central Florida on September 12th at Acrisure Stadium.
Pitt also this week announced a Fiftieth Anniversary celebration of the 1976 national champion Panthers, who went 12-0 under coach Johnny Majors and featured Heisman Trophy winning running back Tony Dorsett. They beat fifth-ranked Georgia, 27-3 in the Sugar Bowl. The celebration is scheduled for October 10 before the North Carolina game.
