Indiana County’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for April went up by three-tenths of a percentage point to 4.7%
In March, that rate was at 4.4%.One year ago, the unemployment rate was at 4.8%.
Comparing Indiana County to its neighbors, Westmoreland County has the lowest rate at 4.0%. Clearfield is at 4.2% while Jefferson and Armstrong are at 4.4%. Cambria is the highest in the region at 4.8%
The seasonally-adjusted labor force, which is the number of people working or looking for work, went up by 300 in Indiana County to 36,200. The number of those employed went up by 200 for the month, while the number of those unemployed increased by 100.
