Eleven former Steelers, three former Pitt Panthers, one Penn State Nittany Lion, and six former PSAC standouts have made the list of nominees for the College Football Hall of Fame.
Steelers nominees include Alan Faneca, David DeCastro, Casey Hampton, Heath Miller, and Antwaan Randle El, along with Flozell Adams, Troy Edwards, Rich Erenberg, Tyler Matakevich, Patrick Peterson, and Donnell Woolford.
Former Pitt players nominated are Matt Cavanagh, “Ironhead” Heyward, Antonio Bryant, and coach Jackie Sherill. Penn State’s Bobby Engram is also nominated. From PSAC schools, the nominees are Jahri Evans and Franklin Quitech of Bloomsburg, Gary McCauley of Clarion, Billy Hess of West Chester, Jimmy Terwilliger of East Stroudsburg, and former Slippery Rock coach George Mihalik.
