Another bad night for the Pirates leads to a series split with the Chicago Cubs.

Shortstop Knnor Griffin did not start yesterday’s game as he felt some soreness in his right arm. He was available as a pinch runner but was not activated. Manager Don Kelly said the injury happened while Griffin was throwing. He is considered day-to-day. Jared Triolo took Griffin’s spot. The Pirates also called up utility man Tyler Callihan from Indianapolis and sent down Esmerlyn Valdez.
Jared Jones will start tonight for the Bucs, making his season debut for the season coming off of internal brace surgery on his elbow performed in May of last year. The team also announced Carmen Mlodzinski will move to the bullpen to make room for Jones in the starting rotation. Mlodzinski was 4-3 with a 3.76 ERA, 46 strikeouts against 20 walks in 11 appearances this season, including his 9 starts.
Taj Bradley will throw for the Twins. He is 5-1 with a 2.77 ERA and 59 strikeouts. Airtime 6:20 on WCCS.
