Indiana County First Responders were active on Memorial Day.
The day started with a smoke investigation early in the day that brought out the Indiana Fire Association Officer in Charge. A concerned passerby saw smoke and called 911. The smoke was actually from a grill as someone was doing some outdoor cooking.
A second call was for a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Indian Springs Road and Wayne Avenue. Indiana Fire officials said that an SUV was hit on the passenger side by a full-size pickup truck and then pushed into the front of another full-size truck in the turning lane. Firefighters did help one person out of their vehicle but all three were able to get out under their own power. The three were taken to IRMC for evaluation. Traffic was slowed for about 20 minutes while crews cleared the scene, including soaking up some leaking fluids.
The only other call for service was for traffic control on Spaulding Road in Cherryhill Township. Cherryhill Township Firefighters were sent out at the time.
