Two people charged in connection with the death of Alice Robson were sentenced yesterday to serve life in prison.
At Westmoreland County Court yesterday, sentences were handed down for 52-year-old Melissa Fox-Beacom and 20-year-old Matthew Bates. The two were convicted in February of first-degree murder and other crimes connected with the shooting death of Robson on December 11th of 2023 at her home in St. Clair Township, outside of New Florence. During trial, witnesses reported that Fox-Beacom and Robson were fighting over the custody of a disabled boy, and that Fox-Beacom had repeatedly called her mother names and planned on collecting the boy’s disability checks and moving into her mom’s home.
A third suspect, Robert Jack of Fairfield, testified that he was the one that pulled the trigger at their request. Jack also said that Bates helped him clean the scene and put Robson into a crawlspace underneath the house. Jack was offered a plea deal from prosecutors in exchange for his testimony during trial.
On top of the jail time, the two were ordered to have no contact with Robson’s family and must pay $21,780 in restitution, which will be spit between the three defendants.
