The Altoona Curve won their third straight game Saturday when Ivan Brethowr long fly ball banged off the center field wall, driving in the winning run in a 6-5 victory. Playing just his third game in AA, Brethowr was was credited with a triple. Omar Alfonzo was hit by a pitch, putting him on base and setting stage for Brethowr’s hit.
The Curve had surrendered a 5-1 lead on Cayden Wallace’s grand slam in the seventh inning.
Alfonzo and Lonnie White, Jr. both homered for the Curve. Alfonzo, White, and Brethowr all had two hits.
The Pirates’ Jared Jones will start for Altoona today, making his fourth rehab start of the season. He’s previously thrown for Bradenton and Indianapolis before tossing four innings of scoreless ball against Harrisburg in his last appearance for Altoona, last Tuesday.
