The Marion Center school board on Monday night will vote on a number of items in preparation for the 2026-27 school year, including a $31.2 million budget which contains a 4.5 percent increase in real estate taxes. Another big item on the agenda is the renovation project for Dr. John R. Mallino Stadium. The $2.9 million project would include synthetic turf on the field, complete restoration of the track with the addition of an eighth lane, and bleacher enhancements.
The funds for the stadium project would come from grants, donations, and the Capital Projects Reserve. Completion would be in July of next year.
The Indiana Area school board’s Audit & Finance Committee and Buildings, Grounds, & Transportation Committee will both meet on Monday, with Audit & Finance focusing on budgetary issues, including almost $1.4 million in tax liens. Buildings, Grounds, & Transportation has four items on its agenda, including the solar project.
The River Valley school board will hold a committee meeting on Wednesday.
This week’s education highlights also include the first graduation ceremonies of the year. ICTC will celebrate its commencement on Thursday.
