The following are highlight results from the District 6 AA track and field meet held Tuesday and Wednesday in Altoona. All athletes mentioned here qualified for the PIAA Track and Field State Championships taking place at Shippensburg University, May 21-24.
Boys AA
Northern Cambria had the highest score among Heritage Conference boys’ teams with 40 points, good for fifth place.
For Northern Cambria, junior Daniel Farrell won the Boys Triple Jump with a distance of 46-01.50. Junior Levi Czar took third place in the Boys 200 Meter Dash.
For United, the Lions had a fine day with relay teams. The 4×400 Meter Relay team of Matthew Beaver, Logan Lichtenfels, Luke Shepler and Carter Payne took first place with a time of 3:26.95. United’s Boys 4×800 Meter Relay team placed second. The Lions’ 4×100 team took third. Senior Josef Garshnick took third in the Boys Pole Vault.
For River Valley, junior Desmond Reilly placed fourth in the Boys Triple Jump.
For Marion Center, junior Hayden Fox captured third place in the Boys Pole Vault. Senior Paul Shellhammer placed third in the Boys Shot Put, and junior Colin Sacco took third in the Boys Discus Throw.
For Penns Manor, senior Brady Lewis won the Boys Javelin Throw with a distance of 189-01.00. He also took second in the Boys Shot Put.
For Homer-Center, senior Riley Cobaugh won the Boys 400 Meter Dash with a time of 49.97. The Wildcat’s 4×400 Meter Relay team of Riley Cobaugh, Gabe Cobaugh, Hayden Bence and Brady Frazer placed third.
For Purchase Line, sophomore Maddox Frantz took third in the Boys 100 Meter Dash. He also took second in the Boys 200 Meter Dash. Senior Dylan Rebovich took third in the Boys Javelin Throw.
For Cambria Heights, junior Mason Kline took second in the Boys 800 Meter Run.
For Portage, junior Josh Papcun placed third in the Boys 400 Meter Dash.
Girls AA
Cambria Heights had the highest score among Heritage Conference girls’ teams with 41 points, good for sixth place.
For Cambria Heights, senior Rachel McClellan took third in the Girls Long Jump and also qualified in the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles. Senior Brielle McMillen took second in the Girls Long Jump and second in the Girls Triple Jump to qualify for the state meet in both.
For River Valley, sophomore Madison Twinchek won the Girls Javelin Throw at 118-06 and also took second in the Girls High Jump.
For Homer-Center, junior Maggie Voyda won the Girls Shot Put with a distance of 36-07.50 and took second in the Girls Discus Throw.
For United, senior Maya Ressler won the Girls High Jump with a jump of 5.0. Ressler also took second in the Girls Pole Vault.
For Northern Cambria, senior Emilee Depetro took third in the Girls 400 Meter Dash.
For Portage, junior Jada Irvin took third in the Girls Javelin Throw.
