The Steelers have agreed to a contract extension with kicker Chris Boswell, who will tie Dallas’ Brandon Aubrey for the highest annual salary ever for a kicker to an NFL. The four-year contract extension is worth $28 million, matching the deal signed by Aubrey three weeks ago. The extension runs through the 2030 season.
Boswell is a two-time Pro Bowl kicker who will be paid $5 million this season on the last year of his current contract. This will be his twelfth season with the Steelers, and he will carry an 87.7 percent field goal percentage into the season, which is sixth-best in league history. Boswell also has the second-best career percentage on field goals over fifty yards (82.5 percent.)
The Steelers also yesterday signed center Greg Crippen, a 6-4, 309-pound undrafted free agent out of Michigan who tried out at rookie minicamp over the weekend. In a corresponding roster transaction, the team waived offensive tackle Sataoa Laumea.
